Direct Speech Act

I’ve been told time and again
First in school, that it was wrong
To not put direct speech in quotes
And later in the university that
It is actually a criminal act
So much so, that I have now
Started quoting direct actions too
She corrected my poetry with:
“Well… speech is an act dude”
I said “Love making”
