AUTUMN AIR

Chair of repose

We find ourselves in the midst of a season of transformation. The rains lingered, and greens sprang from every cranny, as we awaited the noble light of the sober sister of Spring. Behold, it is Autumn.

I long for a quiet corner, a sanctuary where I might drown out, if only for a moment, the rage against the machine and the disappointments of a world racing ceaselessly towards anger and despair. A place to do what I love, and to love life as it ought to be lived.

We have been around and about, coming together in preparation for the return of the bard of seasons, with his songs of joy and good forebodings. We, the children of discontent, seek reformation and rest.

And so, in the spirit of creating such a sanctuary, Story of the Footloose comes together for its second celebration of autumn: Autumn Air: Chair of Repose.

Autumn Air is an open-ended project. The series of events invites artists, thinkers, and good Samaritans from every discipline to contribute their voices to the season. The experience is woven together through:

  • The Autumn Air Concert: Spoken word interlaced with live music and SFX. A seasonal musical suite in six movements, it explore various forms like Waltz, Hindustani Classical fusion, and instrumental improvisations.
  • The Autumn Air Chapbook: A tangible keepsake of the season, this publication gathers a diverse collection of letters, poems, paintings, photographs, and graphic designs. They capture the nostalgic essence of autumn and fossilize the intimate connection of people with their time and surroundings.
  • Forest and Nature walks: Bird Watching session to come together in observing the signs of Autumn.
  • Communal Participation: Interactive workshops and activities designed to foster an immediate, tactile relationship with the environment and an active participation in the making of local culture.

This project is an invitation for artists and audiences alike to come out in the sun, dry the monsoon soaked skin and participate in an unforgettable and ephemeral experience of the now.
